ABOUT THIS ROLE
This is a contract, fully remote, field-based position with a project-driven schedule that requires travel, variable hours based on project and customer needs, and occasional assignments in post-storm recovery environments, with flexibility between projects.

WHAT WE&#039;RE LOOKING FOR IN A FIELD SERVICES AND TRAINING SPECIALIST - LINEMAN

Valid Journeyman Lineman license
Valid driver&#039;s license
10+ years of experience working as a Lineman within a utility organization
Strong knowledge of utility power systems, electrical theory, technical drawings, and material/load calculations
Experience climbing utility poles and structures and working at heights
Experience using fall protection systems, hand tools, and powerline equipment
Ability to travel extensively throughout the United States
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs


Preferred qualifications include completing a lineworker apprenticeship or related college program, training or mentoring fellow linemen, developing technical documentation, providing customer-facing support, and supporting transmission, distribution, substation, or utility infrastructure projects.

Reporting to the Solar Site Supervisor, the Solar Groundman is responsible for vegetation maintenance and abatement. The primary objective is to ensure upkeep and appearance of outdoor environments, including grounds and landscaping at our solar sites. This position would be supporting the Kansas South Solar Site located in Lemoore, CA.

What You&#039;ll Be Doing

Conduct vegetation maintenance and abatement on solar power generation plants.
Conduct routine maintenance and repair of vegetation management equipment including, but not limited to mowers, tractors, string-trimmers, hedge trimmers, rotary cutters, tractor implements, and hand tools.
Uses various hand tools and gas-powered tools to mow and maintain grass, rake leaves and get grounds ready for seasonal changes.
Ensure that all co-workers and contractors demonstrate safe work practices during the performance of facilities management activities.
Ensure that assigned vehicle, tooling, electrical devices, software, and company property are maintained.
Maintains walkways, parking lots, and solar equipment by removing snow and ice.

What You&#039;ll Bring

High School Diploma or GED
General mechanical aptitude
Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Clear understanding of safe workplace practices and procedure.
Must have the ability to travel to and from solar sites, work on-call during off-shift hours, and weekends.

What you’ll do

You will install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
You will safely use hand tools and equipment such as; wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
You will safely operate mechanized equipment such as; bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, and more
You will set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
You will flag traffic when required
You will understand separation and clearance regulations
You will safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
You will maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies.
What you’ll need

To be 18 years of age or older
Authorization to work in the United States for this company
High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
Valid state driver&#039;s license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.

Additional qualifications 
 

Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques
You are able to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
You are able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (such as; pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction)
You are able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance.
Must know the color code system for cable pairs or be willing to lear
Ability to work in confined spaces
Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work with internal and external customers
Must have strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with product vendors and customers.

Essential Duties &amp;amp; Responsibilities

Demonstrate mastery and continue duties of Apprentice 1, 2, 3 and 4
Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment
Inspect existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment
Correct and/or report problems and observed hazards
Maintain and operate vehicles and equipment
Investigate trouble on lines and locate cause of power outages
Maintain and service, including cleaning and repairing, all tools and equipment
Perform rubber glove work on energized lines from aerial device
Work on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment, both from the pole or an aerial device
Participate in and successfully complete scheduled training
Assist in the training of others
Demonstrate diligence in learning and adhering to safety regulations
Collect delinquent accounts
Must be available for and participate in Call-Out duty
Must be available to work various shifts
Responsible for construction and maintenance of overhead and underground lines

The Pre-Apprentice Lineman employees will be required to bid locations in Wyoming, after successfully passing the final Journeyman Lineman Exam.

Groundman responsibilities are to:
 

Hand lineman necessary protective equipment needed for work being performed (i.e. (hotsticks, rubber goods, blankets, gloves, etc)
Prepare and assemble various line apparatus required for particular work being performed.
Drive and operate the various vehicles and/or equipment;
Keep work areas clean and organized. Pickup scrap wire, boxes, and other discarded materials.
Keep unauthorized people away from work area.Stocking trucks with material commonly used on a daily basis and maintaining vehicles (fueling, cleaning, organizing, etc.)
Use various hand and power tools.
Assist with loading of various materials onto trucks and/or trailers.

 
Groundman also perform a variety of physical activities including:
 

Digging
Assemble conduit and place in trench.
Assist with installation of various underground apparatuses.
Assist with pulling wire
Must be knowledgeable with the materials needed and process to strip and terminate underground cables.
May be required to assist lineman in second bucket while working on lines.
Prepare pole mount transformers and assist with installation.
A Groundman may prepare work orders, requisitions and other routine reports as assigned.
Requirements
 

Must have a high school diploma, GED, or proof of equivalent.
Must have a current Class &quot;A&quot; Commercial Driver&#039;s License 
Be available to work extended hours, prearranged overtime and after hours outages as required by the company.This position will require a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for.

Job duties of the Lineman require sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead. As a Journeyman Lineman you will install, maintain and repair all transmission and distribution electrical systems and associated equipment, both overhead and underground, while utilizing line trucks, aerial boom, lifts and wire pulling equipment.  Maintenance of lines and services will require pole climbing, hot sticking, and working out of truck mounted bucket lifts to construct, repair or maintain line equipment or string, splice and sag wire on live or dead circuits.  Operates switches, cutouts and uses grounding devices to work on de-energized lines and equipment.  You may train and direct the work of a trainee/apprentice in the trade.
 
Rubber gloving training will be provided.  Upon meeting the qualifications for Rubber Gloving, an increase to the Qualified Journeyman Lineman rate of pay will be given.Requirements
 

A high school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education
Experience as a Journeyman Lineman, Journeyman Lineman certification and/or testing through UWUA 127.
Completion of a formal apprenticeship training program.
Must meet examining board review of skills and experience.
Candidate must have formal hot stick training and experience.  
Must own, or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Driver&#039;s License.
This position requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for.

 


Physical Demands
The job duties of Lineman require lifting in excess of 75 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead, carrying in excess of 75 lbs with both hands, and pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs of exertion force.  Job duties of the Lineman require sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead.  Additional requirements of the Lineman position include forceful grip and pinch; manipulation of small objects; balancing on one or both legs during dynamic activities; manipulation of large objects during activities requiring balance and sustained awkward postures.

Construct, maintain and repair Company power lines and distribution systems, both overhead and underground, from point of generation to the customer&#039;s premises to insure continuity of electric service in a safe and efficient manner. 
Receives work direction and review from Crew Supervisor, Foreman, Dispatcher, District Manager, or other line supervisors.
Construct, install, maintain and repair all transmission and distribution electrical systems and associated equipment, both overhead and underground, for the reliable and safe transmission and distribution of electrical service to the customer.
Operate heavy equipment such as line truck, backhoe, forklift, trencher, overhead cranes, and wire pulling equipment in the building of new lines or distribution systems and/or maintaining existing electric systems or services.
Work with blasting and explosive materials and devices.
Climb poles to construct, repair, or maintain electric line equipment or string, splice, and sag wire on live or dead circuits.
Troubleshoot, repair, and restore electric service due to line faults, isolated customer outages, and other emergency outages caused by storms, floods, and accidents.
Train and instruct apprentices in all phases of line work, proper use of tools and operating and maintaining equipment in accordance to safety rules, electrical code, and regulations.
Perform switching and other mechanical duties in substations as required.
Install and maintain street light systems.
Patrol and inspect substations, transmission and distribution lines and equipment, and make a report of findings.
Test electrical load with special test equipment on primary and secondary circuits and make corrections as necessary to maintain proper voltages.
Make a complete record of mileage reports, trouble orders and work performed; time sheets, material reports, line patrol reports and others as required.
May be required to relieve the working Foreman or Crew Supervisor in their absence.

A high school diploma, GED or proof of equivalent
Journeyman Lineman experience which includes completion of a formal training program for a Journeyman Lineman.
Must meet examining board review of skills and experience and will be required to pass testing through Rocky Mountain Power.
Candidate must have hot stick training and experience.
Must have a Class A Commercial Driver&#039;s License.
Physical Demands

Require lifting in excess of 75 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead.
Carrying in excess of 75 lbs with both hands.
Pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs of exertional force.
Sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead.

Site 300Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL.  Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).

What you’ll do

Assist with the installation of fiber and telecom cables overhead, and promptly repair any issues to ensure efficient and reliable service
Safely use equipment like bucket truck, digger derrick, excavators
Safely use hand tools and power tools like wrenches, drills, and saws
Maintain safe work areas so that traffic flows smoothly while on the job
Safely work at heights using climbing hooks and ladders
Be ready to travel for storm response on short notice
Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need

To be 18 years of age or older
Authorization to work in the United States for this company
High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
Valid state driver&#039;s license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
Previous Construction experience desired, preferably within the telecommunications industry


Physical abilities &amp;amp; exposures

Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level at heights, in confined spaces and in remote locations, climb stairs, use ladder, bend, stoop, stand, walk and lift up to 55 pounds, operate vehicle &amp;amp; heavy machinery 
Occasionally: use keyboard and mouse
The wage range for Lineman I Telecom is $24.00  - $28.00.

Department: Operations
Reports To: Overhead Foreman
FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
Pay Range:  $41-$60
Work Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week.
Location: Kettering, MD
Position Purpose:
Overhead 1st class is a experienced position in the construction and maintenance of electrical overhead distribution systems. You will work at multiple locations and may also require travel to another state, depending on customer demands.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead crew members in the absence of the Foreman.
Strings overhead wire.
Set poles and anchors.
Install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
Troubleshoot trouble in primary and secondary systems.
Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems.
Frequently work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Perform rigorous physical labor.
Can identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
Must be familiar with induced voltage.
Understand grounding procedures.
Work at heights or confined spaces.
Install and remove PPE and cover up.
Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel) and have the necessary tools to do so.
Must understand how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
Plan safe work based on a job print or work order.
Understand how to obtain a one shot on a recloser.
Can conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing.
Can safely perform a reconductoring job.
Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers.
Understand how to use a load bust tool.
Does all other related work to complete the job.
Can work outside, frequently in inclement weather conditions.

You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You perform this position in outside weather conditions.

Willingness to glove/work live high voltage power lines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Valid Driver license

Install and repair complex fiber/telecom cables and materials, promptly repair any issues to ensure efficient and reliable service

What you’ll need

    <description><![CDATA[EHV A Lineworker - Transmission - Pike Electric West, LLC is looking to fill twenty-two (22) EHV A Lineworker - Transmission positions in Mineral Wells, Texas and at various worksites throughout Texas to work approximately 10/01/2026 to 05/15/2027. This is a temporary, full-time, peak load position. The period of need includes ramp-up work preceding the peak, during which workers will be mobilizing equipment, staging materials, performing site preparation, and conducting pre-construction activities necessary for EHV transmission line construction. The period of need also includes close-out work following the peak, during which workers will be demobilizing equipment, completing final inspections, restoring worksites, and performing post-construction cleanup activities. Duties: This is a highly skilled position in the construction, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage and extra-high-voltage (EHV) electrical transmission systems, including systems operating at 400kV and above. Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission and EHV transmission systems, including 400kV+ circuits. Capable of coaching crew members in the absence of the Employee in Charge on transmission and EHV projects. Stringing overhead conductor, including bundled conductors used on EHV transmission lines. Setting lattice towers, poles, structures, foundations, and anchors for high-voltage and EHV systems. Troubleshooting problems on transmission and EHV transmission systems. Frequently works with energized high-voltage and extra-high-voltage systems requiring advanced skill, precision, and strict adherence to safety procedures to protect the lives of themselves and others. Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order. Glove, hot stick, and/or bare-hand work on high voltage and EHV transmission lines, as qualified. Identify transmission primary and secondary voltages on standard and EHV circuits. Obtain knowledge in bare hand work and of hot stick work on energized high-voltage and EHV lines. Understanding and reading blueprints, structure drawings, and EHV construction plans. Properly sag conductor, including long span and high-tension EHV sagging operations. Coaching crew in assembly and erection of poles and lattice or monopole structures to all heights. Dead-ending and sagging operations for all conductor types, including EHV conductors. Executing hot line work on conductor systems. Operating digger derrick and equipment used for EHV construction. Pole and tower climbing, including steel lattice and monopole EHV structures. Heavy lifting and rigging for transmission and EHV work. Work with induced voltage, including increased induction common on EHV systems. Enact grounding procedures for transmission and EHV lines. Working at heights and/or confined spaces. Properly installing and removing PPE and EHV-rated cover-up. Climbing different types of structures (wood, steel, lattice, monopole, etc.) and use the necessary tools to do so. Phasing out a line with proper use of phasing sticks on high-voltage and EHV circuits. Identify and locate puller and tensioner setups suitable for EHV conductor installations. Planning safe work based on a job print or work order, including EHV-specific hazards and clearances. Obtain a one shot on a recloser. Enacts minimum approach distance, including extended MAD requirements for EHV voltages. Utilizes flag and tag procedures. Performing basic bucket rescue/escape. Effectively conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing. Safely perform a reconductoring job, including EHV reconductoring projects. Safely installing and removing mechanical jumpers on high-voltage and EHV systems. Properly inspect rubber goods, cover, and PPE rated for transmission and EHV applications. Follow Company safety rules and all other Company policies. Does all other related work as required to complete the job. Work will be performed at unanticipated locations throughout the Texas counties listed on the certified ETA-9141, depending on project development. 	Inspect trees and plants for signs of damage, disease, or pests during trimming activities. Identify and remove any diseased or infested branches to prevent the spread of pathogens and ensure the overall health of the plant material.
	Collaborate with other nursery staff members to coordinate trimming schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure efficient workflow in the retail yard. Communicate any issues or concerns related to tree and plant health to the appropriate personnel for further action.
	Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing trimming activities. Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices to prevent injuries and accidents.
	Demonstrated availability to work any day of the week.

JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking Experienced Telecom Linemen to perform overhead and underground low-voltage telecommunications construction and maintenance, including fiber optic and copper cable systems. Working under the direction of a Line Foreman, you will install, maintain, and support telecommunications infrastructure throughout Hawaii.
Responsibilities include operating construction equipment, driving commercial vehicles, loading and unloading materials, climbing poles, and working from aerial lift devices. Successful candidates will have field experience, a strong safety record, a solid work ethic, and a commitment to quality workmanship and teamwork.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


Perform overhead and underground low-voltage telecommunications line construction and maintenance under the direction of an assigned Line Foreman.
Operate low-voltage line construction equipment, including but not limited to stringing equipment, backhoes, derrick diggers, material handlers, and trucks.
Safely and efficiently perform line work on poles and from aerial lift trucks.
Climb poles and perform productive field work at elevated heights.
Build strand, install and lash cable and fiber, and perform basic pole transfers.
Demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in the use of industry tools, equipment, and materials.
Inspect and verify the condition of all vehicles, equipment, and tools used in the performance of assigned work.
Maintain organization, cleanliness, and proper stocking of assigned vehicles and equipment.
Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as required.
Consistently prioritize personal safety and the safety of crew members and others on the job site.
Exercise sound judgment when responding to unusual, hazardous, or emergency situations.
Assist with recordkeeping and maintain accurate logs of work performed, including labor hours by category.
Represent TDX Corporation and BSEt LLC professionally while maintaining positive relationships with customers, contractors, and the public.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required

High school diploma or GED• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)• Ability to pass a background check, drug and alcohol screening, motor vehicle record review, and DOT physical examination• Reliable attendance and punctuality• Ability to distinguish colors for cable identification and termination• Ability to safely use hand and power tools• Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight, weekend, and extended assignments throughout Hawaii, the Pacific Basin, Alaska, and other U.S. locations as required• Ability to work overtime as needed

Performs vehicle inspections (VIR) and checks oil and fluid levels prior to each shift.

Exposed to various types of pollen depending upon location, season, or climatic conditions. May also be exposed to bee or wasp stings, or animal bites.
Exposed to chemicals used to treat poles primarily through skin contact or inhalation of wood dust after drilling. Exposure may include creosote and/or pentachlorophenol.
Requires alertness and concentration at all times, including day/night, inclement weather, and storm situations involving long hours of work.
Requires far and near visual acuity, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and night vision.
Hearing and speech requirements such that the employee can hear and be heard when working on top of a 45-foot pole or up to 100 feet away from a co-worker, despite heavy background noise.


COMPENSATION:
Pay range is $18.00 – $33.00 per hour, based on experience, plus benefits and eligibility for overtime.

Journeyman Linemen shall meet the qualifications as set forth in this Agreement and shall supply the Union and the Company with satisfactory proof of their experience and knowledge. Linemen will perform Equipment Operations duties as per Section 15.37Requirements
 

A high school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A Journeyman Lineman certification or testing through IBEW Local 659.
Completion of a formal training program for a Journeyman Lineman.
Must meet examining board review of skills and experience.
Candidate must have formal hot stick training and experience.
Must own, or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Driver&#039;s License.
This position requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for. 

 
Physical Demands
 
The job duties of Lineman require lifting in excess of 75 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead, carrying in excess of 75 lbs with both hands, and pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs of exertional force.  Job duties of the Lineman require sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead.  Additional requirements of the Lineman position include forceful grip and pinch; manipulation of small objects; balancing on one or both legs during dynamic activities; manipulation of large objects during activities requiring balance and sustained awkward postures.Preferences

 Job Description Summary
Candidate will be responsible for operating various types of mobile equipment, and will need to be capable of preforming maintenance on stationary plants. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for clean-up duties as needed.
Starting Pay $18.00 an hour. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    •    Usage of various handheld tools.
    •    Physical ability to shovel and rake stone, dirt, as well as manage traffic flow under extreme temperatures and for extended periods of time.
    •    Ability to operate various pieces of equipment including water truck, skid steer, and other support equipment.
    •   Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary basis as needed.
 
Requirements
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Summary
As the employee becomes qualified through acquired experience and training performs the work required in the construction, operation, maintenance, and removal of transmission and distribution lines on wood poles, including work on iron poles, isolated towers and mats or vaults, which may be energized but not above 13-kV primary distribution voltage. Check general operation of assigned vehicle and associated equipment.
Job Responsibilities
•    After satisfactory completion of the Apprentice Line School, performs work on de-energized lines and assists Linemen/Line women on energized secondary lines.
•    After satisfactory completion of Hot Secondary Line School, performs work on lines energized at secondary level voltages.
•    After satisfactory completion of 4-kV and 13-kV Line School, performs work on lines energized at primary level voltages as Primary Assist.
•    Install, remove and maintain poles, crossarms, guy wires, and line hardware.
•    Install, sag, remove and maintain line conductors including splicing, tapping, and the making of dead ends; install, remove and maintain messengers; install and remove aerial cables and cable laterals on poles.
•    Install, remove, and change transformers with associated devices and equipment including pole top wiring.
•    Install, remove, maintain in field, and operate line sectionalizing switches or cutouts; install, remove, operate, inspect, and make minor repairs to boosters, capacitors, and other special pole mounted equipment.
•    Install, remove and maintain street lighting and accessory equipment including pole top wiring.
•    Install and remove protective equipment, including temporary protective grounds on conductors.
•    Make complete inspections of construction performing such work as tighten hardware, tie in conductors, and change insulators and pins.
•    Make voltage and load tests on energized distribution circuits or equipment. 
•    Locate faults on 13, 26 and 69kV transmission and on distribution circuits, including associated equipment.
•    Under the supervision of an engineer or supervisor, make special tests on distribution equipment and phase-out or parallel distribution circuits and equipment.
•    Perform any work required on isolated towers, install, remove and maintain distribution, 13, 26 and 69kV conductors and accessories on tower lines. 
•    Perform other similar or less skilled work of the occupational group. 
•    Prepare poles for, install, and remove transformers with associated devices and equipment including pole-top wiring; make load tests on the secondary side of distribution transformers. 
•    Install ground wires and ground wire molding. 
•    Assist fully qualified Lineman/Line woman, for training purposes
•    Recondition and salvage material and equipment related to this work.
•    Perform other similar or less skilled work of the occupational group.
Job Qualifications
Must meet the Company&#039;s &quot;General Requirements&quot;; and in addition:  •    High School Diploma or GED Required•    Must be able to perform maintenance and repair work safely and without causing interruption to service.  •    Must have the ability to acquire a good practical knowledge of the purpose and functioning of the overhead transmission and distribution system, and the electrical apparatus used in connection therewith; and a general knowledge of the layout of transmission and distribution circuits in the area in which he/she works.  •    Must have the ability to become familiar with the procedure and rules governing the ordering out, tagging and releasing of circuits and the Company&#039;s system of circuit designation for identification.  •    Must have the ability to acquire a good working knowledge of the Company&#039;s overhead line construction methods and practices.  •    Must have the ability to become proficient in the application of pole top resuscitation, and other approved methods of artificial respiration.  •    Must be alert in avoiding accidents and observing hazards. •    Must be able to acquire a general knowledge of the purpose and functioning of the transmission and distribution system, and the electrical apparatus and circuit connections involved in the work.  •    Must be able to acquire a good working knowledge of the standard overhead line construction practices as outlined in the Company&#039;s manuals and handbooks, including the safety rules and practices as set forth therein.  •    Must have successfully completed the line portion of the pre-employment test, except that an employee hired prior to May 1, 1980 who has or obtains a high school diploma or its equivalent does not have to complete the pre-employment test.  •    Must be able to follow instructions and perform routine operations.  •    Must have mechanical aptitude.  •    Must have the physical characteristics to enable him/her to climb and work on structures and poles.  •    Must have the ability to learn:  o    The reading of construction prints and the making of simple field sketches.  o    The application of hoists, tackle, and knots used in line construction and maintenance work and the care of tools commonly used in line construction and maintenance work.  o    The identification and use of all material, tools, and equipment commonly used on line work.   o    Must possess a valid U. S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record•    Must be able to qualify for a Commercial Drivers License “A” to operate motor vehicles in the State of New Jersey within 6 months of employment.
